Barcelona vice president Rafael Yuste has ruled out a move for Manchester United and Man City target Erling Haaland next summer.

Haaland is a almost certain to leave Borussia Dortmund in 2022 when a €75million (£63.7m) contractual release clause kicks in.

Haaland has 68 goals in 67 games for Dortmund and is one of the hottest properties in the game

Barcelona were originally touted as a potential destination, but their financial crisis has left president Joan Laporta with a big headache

The Norwegian phenomenon has all of the world’s biggest clubs chasing him, which would usually include Barcelona, if the Spanish giants weren’t in a financial crisis.

Returning president Joan Laporta has revealed his side are in €1.6billion worth of debt, with their current issues seeing them lose their greatest ever player during the summer, when Lionel Messi joined PSG for free.

However, Barcelona was one of the first stops when Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, and father, Alf-Inge, made a tour of potential destinations for the striker earlier this year.

Raiola conducted a whistle-stop tour of Europe’s biggest sides when it looked like Dortmund would miss out on Champions League football, however, the club made the top four and Haaland stayed

But now Yuste has given a boost to sides such as Manchester United and Manchester City, ruling Barca out of the running for the 21-year-old goal-scorer.

The two Premier League clubs have been heavily linked with a move for the Norway sensation, who is expected to demand astronomical wages.

Yuste explained: “No [we can’t afford him].

“The president and the CEO said it, that in the previous term, which I also reiterate that it has been disastrous, they bought players without knowing if they could pay and that all they did was increase the debt, in addition to finding us the mass salary that we have encountered.”

Barcelona lost their greatest player during the summer due to financial mismanagement

The vice president then said the club needs to reassess their finances over the coming year, after finding the club in ‘ruins’.

“Between now and next year we will see what the situation is and what we can count on for signings,” he said.

“First you have to put the partitions in a house that we have found in ruins, so let’s focus first on fortifying it, first feed the household and then we’ll see what we can do.

“Without losing sight of the fact that we always want to have the best, and Haaland, he is one of the best in the world.”

Haaland is undoubtedly one of the world’s best players, but won’t be going to Barcelona

Barcelona have faced a number of recent humiliations in the transfer market, culminating in the departure of Messi this year.

Last summer they let striker Luis Suarez join Atletico Madrid for free, and he then became a star player as Atletico beat Barca to the LaLiga title.

The Catalan giants also allowed high-earner Antoine Griezmann to return to Atletico on loan this summer, two years after signing for Barcelona for £107million.
