Emerson Palmieri, West Ham United's newest acquisition, has explained why he left Chelsea to join David Moyes' team.

Tuesday night, West Ham United revealed that Palmieri had joined them from Chelsea.

The international player from Italy committed to a four-year deal with a one-year option for an unknown sum.

This summer, West Ham has added seven new players. The latest is the 28-year-old.

In response, Palmieri noted that West Ham is a significant team and explained why he left Chelsea to sign with them.

The official West Ham website cited Palmieri as stating, "I am really thrilled to be here and to arrive here."

“Personally, since the first day I arrived here in England, I always saw the big clubs and I always watched the big games and I knew the history of West Ham. The history is so, so big for this team and so when I knew about the interest for sure I said ‘Yes, let’s go, I want to go there’ and I’m here now!

“I can’t wait to get started in a West Ham shirt.”
