EPL: He’s proven goalscorer, proper striker – Kovacic hails new Chelsea frontman
Chelsea star, Mateo Kovacic has tipped new striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, to add vital firepower to the Blues’ forward line.
The Gabon international could make his debut for Chelsea on Tuesday when the Blues clash with Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League Group E opener.
Aubameyang who left Arsenal back in February, returned to London in the summer with Chelsea in a £10 million deadline-day deal.
But the 33-year-old has had to cope with a broken jaw suffered during a home invasion a few days before his transfer to Chelsea.
Aubamayang trained fully on Sunday with the aid of a custom-made mask fitted by specialists in Italy.
“I can say he will be a big addition to us,” Kovacic told the press ahead of the Champions League game.
“He’s a proper striker, a goalscorer, which we have missed.
“…So we’re looking forward to having him in our squad.
“He’s a proven goalscorer. It’s normal for him to score goals and I hope he will do it here at Chelsea also.”
