Ferran Torres is finally off the mark in LaLiga Santander for Barcelona. Having found the back of the net for the Blaugrana in the Europa League, his moment arrived in the trip to face Elche on Saturday.
Xavi Hernandez brought Ferran on at half-time with his side 1-0 down, and the 22-year-old responded by creating a host of chances before providing a decisive moment.
Ferran drew his side level with 60 minutes on the clock with a close range finish after being set up by Jordi Alba, in a match where he had six shots on goal, three of which were on target.
He has already shown himself to be a reliable goal scorer for the Spanish national team, and he is starting to show this for his club side.
The three goals that he has scored so far for Barcelona have come from just inside the six-yard-box, which is an area associated with centre forwards.
While he has missed a number of opportunities, he is getting himself in key areas and operating like a true No.9.
His goal against Elche could now be the first of many in LaLiga Santander for Barcelona. If that proves to be case, Barcelona have found themselves a true striker for many years to come.
