Newcastle United are reportedly interested in FOUR Manchester United players in January – but a former Magpies star has questioned why they aren’t targeting Tottenham striker Harry Kane!
The St James’ Park outfit are now the most wealthy club in world football following their £305million takeover from the Saudi Public Investment Fund [PIF].

PIF is funded by crown prince Mohammaed Bin Salman, who has a net worth of around £320billion, and the Toon Army are now dreaming of how their new owners will put their wealth to good use.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Magpies are looking into the possibility of signing four United outcasts in a January raid of Old Trafford.
Those four players are, the reports claim, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly.
All four have struggled for game time this season and, with Newcastle said to be ready to splash the cash over the next 12 months and beyond, St James’ Park could be a potential destination for the quartet.
However, former Newcastle midfielder Darren Ambrose says his old club need to be more ambitious.
Bin Salman’s takeover of Newcastle could see the club dominate the transfer market
The talkSPORT pundit, who made 37 appearances for the club between 2003 and 2005, says they should fork out the money needed to sign Tottenham striker Kane, instead.
Kane wanted to leave Spurs in the summer but, with no one prepared to pay the fee that owner Daniel Levy was demanding – not even Manchester City – he stayed at his boyhood club.
Newcastle may now have the spending power to cough up the sort of money that Levy may demand; whether the England international would want to join the Tyneside outfit is another question.
The north London club’s new transfer chief Fabio Paratici has even recently insisted Kane ‘loves’ Tottenham and is staying at the club to help lead their rebuild.
But Ambrose insists his former side should attempt to make a move for the centre-forward, with fellow talkSPORT pundit Rory Jennings adding that that move could ‘upset the entire equilibrium of the Premier League’.
When asked about potential signings for Newcastle, Ambrose said on Sunday’s Boot Room show: “What about Harry Kane?
Harry Kane looked set to move to Manchester City during the transfer window
“Are Manchester City, are Chelsea, are they going to be paying £100m-£120m in the summer?
“I don’t think they are. I think [Man City] went to around £130m this summer? Newcastle will. They will go to £150-200m.”
Jennings added: “Can you imagine the statement that makes to the Premier League?
“If Newcastle United take a player from Tottenham, take the player that Tottenham said they wouldn’t sell.
“That would actually that would upset the entire equilibrium of the Premier League as we know it, and I suppose that’s what they’re trying to do.”
