Juventus 'eye £21m deal for Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan'
Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this summer.
The Germany international, who turns 32 in October, has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and his long-term future at the club is believed to be uncertain.
One previous report claims that the Citizens have told Gundogan that he is free to leave and find a new club this summer, as they have no plans to extend his current contract.
According to Calciomercato, Juventus are looking to 'immediately' take advantage of Gundogan's situation at City and will plan to table a bid for the midfielder this summer.
The report adds that City value Gundogan at €25m (£21m), a similar fee which the Citizens spent on the German when the signed him from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
Despite the arrival of Paul Pogba on a free transfer this summer, Juve remain in the market for another "high-profile" signing, with Gundogan believed to be one of the names at the top of their wishlist.
The Serie A outfit could potentially face competition from both Arsenal and Barcelona for the midfielder's signature, although both the Gunners and the Catalan giants have prioritised other targets so far this summer, and it remains to be seen whether they will reignite their interest in the 60-cap Germany international.
Gundogan has previously suggested that he would be open to extending his Man City contract and intends to hold talks with the club in the near future.
Speaking to Kicker last month, the German said: "We will sit down together in due course and exchange our ideas and plans, and then we will see what comes out of it.
"Football-wise, there is certainly still no better address than Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, and I think that will hardly change in the next few years.
"Of course, I would have liked to play a little longer in one or two important games over the last few months. That's not a secret. I am a player who always wants to play."
Guardiola, who made Gundogan his first signing as Man City boss seven years ago, has also expressed his desire to keep hold of Gundogan for the 2022-23 campaign and claims that he is unaware of the reported interest in the midfielder.
Gundogan has been a key cog in Guardiola's machine over the years at the Etihad, recording 49 goals and 33 assists in 251 appearances across all competitions.
The Gelsenkirchen-born midfielder came off the bench to score two decisive goals in City's dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Aston Villa, which helped them to clinch the Premier League title on the final day of last season.
Gundogan has won a total of 11 trophies with the Citizens, including four English top-flight titles, four EFL Cups and one FA Cup
