According to De Telegraaf, Manchester United's approved offer for Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong has expired.
De Jong has been mentioned in connection with Man United frequently this transfer window, but he is hesitant to go to Old Trafford.
The Premier League heavyweights and Barcelona have had a £72 million deal in place for weeks, but De Jong has been reluctant to sign with Manchester United and appears to want to remain at Camp Nou.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Man United, is eager to get De Jong into his team this summer.
With fewer than two weeks left in the transfer window, Man United would need to make a fresh offer to keep their hopes of signing the Netherlands international alive.
The side of Ten Hag will have to compete with Chelsea, who are also considering De Jong.
