The Super Eagles were defeated 1-0 by the Central African Republic in their third Group C game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos on Thursday evening.

The Eagles had garnered six points ahead of today's game and still top the table despite the setback.

What an upset here as CAR manages to score with their first real effort all night and it's the sub-Karl Namnganda who is poised to write a page in the Central African Republic football books.

A few half chances for Osimhen is what they've reduced Nigeria too and far too often Rohr's side looked for long pointless balls which were bread and butter for the men in blue.

Iheanacho was substituted at halftime by debutant Taiwo Awoniyi and 12 minutes into the second half the Union Berlin striker had a shot deflected for a corner kick few minutes after Aribo had a shot saved.

Francis Uzoho was called into action in the 68th minute as he gathered the ball on the second attempt with the visitors threatening to score from a free kick.

Nigeria lost to the Central African Republic because they lack focus with the Osimhen markdown throughout the game.

Nigeria squad should try and work on the team playing skills because nobody coordinated the match from the beginning to the end and in my own opinion I believe that captain should be able to correct some mistakes right there on the pitch.
