The Southampton Saints and the Scottish powerhouse Rangers have agreed a deal that is expected to be worth over £10 million overall, including add-ons, and the Rangers midfielder is reportedly in talks to join Southampton. According to Fabrizio Romano, Aribo's contract at Ibrox, which has less than a year left on it, contains a £10 million release clause that has been activated.

Since joining the Gers in the summer of 2019 for under $300,000 from Charlton Athletic, Aribo has scored 26 goals in 149 games. The 25-year-old Nigerian international has established himself as a key member of the team during that time, helping Rangers win their 55th Scottish League championship in 2021 and advance to the Europa League final the previous campaign. He scored in that match, which Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team lost to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties.

However, he is ready to take up a new adventure, moving on to greener pastures, with Southampton reportedly confident the signing the adaptable 25-year-old, who can play centrally in midfield, out wide, or as a striker would be a boost to the club. However, former Rangers striker McCoist has provided his opinion on the expected move to the south coast and stated he would not be astonished to see him depart. Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest have also been connected with Aribo.

Acquired him from Charlton a few years ago, and he has been fantastic. He has developed and bloomed. He has over 20 Nigerian caps, and Southampton are getting a very, very good player if he joined them.
