After recess the Yei Joint Stars team tried to defend in numbers, but still failed to stop the She Corporate team. Nabbuma got her second goal of the day after 53 minutes when she capitalized on poor defending and placed the ball in the net.

Yei Joint Stars captain Esther Taban tried to push forward with her good runs and dribbling skills, but failed to find the goals.

Favour Nambatya and Joanitah Ainembabazi made sure they also got their names on the score sheet for the Ugandan side. Charles Lukula Ayiekoh said he was impressed with the way his players reacted.

“It is our first time to play in this tournament and winning by a 6-0 margin is a good start. But we still have to concentrate and work hard because we have more Group matches to come,” added Ayeikoh.

In the second Group B match Barakat Olaiya and Aisha Djafari netted a brace each, while Pambani Kuzoya and Joelle Bakuru were also on the score sheet.

Deodatrus Mholery Eliuter, the Simba Queens FC coach said that although they had picked a big win, there is still a lot of work that has to be done in the campaign. “Our target is to win the title and qualify for the TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League,” added Elieter.

Action returns on Monday with Group A ties as Commercial Bank of Ethiopia face Warriors Queens Fc from Zanzibar, and FOFILA (Burundi) battle AS Kigali WFC (Rwanda) in the second match to be played at the Azam Complex in Chamazi.
