Chelsea turn down chance to sign Felix permanently
Chelsea forward Joao Felix is heading back to Atletico Madrid, according to Spanish club’s president, after Mauricio Pochettino turned down the chance to have the forward in his plans next season.
Felix arrived at Stamford Bridge in January on a five-month loan deal from Atleti worth £9m - but the 23-year-old scored just four goals in 20 games at Stamford Bridge.
Now, Atleti president Enrique Cerezo has announced Chelsea will not take up the option to sign Felix permanently, under the orders of newly-appointed head coach Pochettino.
Speaking at an event in Madrid about his career and the current situation at Atleti, he said: "The truth is at this moment in time, there isn't a great deal more to add [to the report that Pochettino doesn't count on him].
"We have known for less than 24 hours so don't have anything planned.
"The Chelsea manager doesn't want him, he will return when his commitment ends in a matter of weeks and we'll see what happens. But he is an Atletico de Madrid player.”
Gordon: Hearts would be happy if Naismith stays
Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon believes Steven Naismith impressed during his spell in charge, insisting the players would be happy for him to be appointed permanently.
Pavard set to leave Bayern
Benjamin Pavard has told Bayern Munich he will not renew his contract and is now set to leave the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The France international has just 12 months remaining on his deal.
Meret happy at Napoli, says player's agent
The agent of Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret has said his client is happy at the Serie A champions and is not looking to move, amid links to Tottenham.
Reports in Europe have linked Spurs with a £35m move for the Napoli shot stopper, with Hugo Lloris' future at Tottenham uncertain.
“Director (Cristiano) Giuntoli made a huge effort for the contract renewal, which was very complicated. Now, the season is over and there will be holidays. And then, we’ll see,” Federico Pastorello told Tuttomercatoweb about Meret's future.
“But Alex is very happy to be in Naples. He wants to stay in Naples and I think he will.”
Palace hoping to persuade Potter to replace Hodgson
Crystal Palace are hoping to persuade Graham Potter to return to management this summer, according to The Independent.
While the 48-year-old had been considering a break after his mid-season departure from Chelsea, his record from before going to Stamford Bridge still puts him in high demand for a number of progressive clubs.
Palace see Potter - a former Brighton manager - as an ideal candidate for their next step as a club and feel they can make the Englishman a convincing offer, including the chance to work with one of the best young squads in the Premier League.
PSG keen on signing Bayern defender Hernandez
Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
Thomas Tuchel is keen to keep the France international, however, and the German champions have offered him a new deal.
Radrizzani locked in revised talks to sell Leeds
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani remains locked in advanced negotiations over a revised deal to sell the club to 49ers Enterprises after their relegation to the Championship.
The American owners of the San Francisco 49ers NFL team still want to purchase the remaining 56 per cent stake from Italian Radrizzani despite the drop - but not at the previously agreed price.
With relegation looking likely, Radrizzani is understood to have flown to the US late last week to broker the terms on a new deal, with the previous price agreed only if they had stayed up.
He was not present at Leeds’ last game of the season on Sunday – a 4-1 home defeat to Tottenham at Elland Road that confirmed the relegation to the Championship. And two days later, the long-discussed takeover is hanging in the balance, with Radrizzani still deciding whether or not to pull the trigger on the sale.
Sources have indicated to Sky Sports News that it is still expected to be completed and, once it has, there is a plan in place for Radrizzani to oversee a transition period into the new ownership alongside chief executive Angus Kinnear.
Kinnear is also expected to stay on in his role as CEO at least until the end of the 2023-24 season, and top of the agenda for the new regime will be the appointments of a new head coach and sporting director.
The 49ers and Kinnear are understood to have been working on sporting director candidates already and high on their list are the likes of Middlesbrough’s Kieran Scott and Genk’s Dimitri de Conde.
The club want to act quickly to secure their new hierarchy in order to advance with plans for next season, including pre-season training and squad turnover in the transfer market - and they will need to do so with fellow high-profile, relegated clubs Leicester and Southampton already embarking on their plans for next term.
Flekken: Moving to Brentford is a dream
Dutch goalkeeper Mark Flekken has confirmed he is about to complete a move to Brentford.
Sky Sports News revealed earlier this month that the Freiburg goalkeeper is close to a £11m move to west London.
Flekken will join forward Kevin Schade in swapping Freiburg for west London in 2023.
“I have to be honest: I grew up on the German border in Holland, but when I was young it was mainly the English league that I was rooting for,” Flekken told BILD when asked about his move to Brentford.
“For me it’s really a childhood dream that I can fulfil in this way. I actually didn’t speak to Kevin Schade at all.
“The way the club had been looking for my services over the last two years, there wasn’t really a need to speak to Kevin. I had a really good feeling about that.”
Royal wants to see Kane stay at Spurs
